This set of cataloguing rules is based upon Anglo American Cataloguing Rules, 1988 revision (AACR2), and Nancy Olson's Cataloguing Internet Resources: A Manual and Practical Guide.

It is important to note that whilst these guidelines draw greatly from the two publications mentioned above, they do not attempt to go into as much detail as either of these publications–they are merely providing a set of rules for cataloguing the information held in the ADAM database.

Many of the rules required by ADAM are not dealt with by either of these resources, and these have been constructed separately using general principles from AACR.

A working example is included in Section III to illustrate practical use of these cataloguing rules.
