There are several categories of resources that may be eliminated from the evaluative procedure before the selection criteria below are applied. Such resources include the following:

• resources that have been created by individuals for personal means; this does NOT include individual artists advertising or exhibiting their work or using the Web as a medium for their art
• resources which are out of date–either those that have been superseded by a more current version, or those which are merely old and inaccurate, and are now defunct

The ADAM service will seek to catalogue all unique or relevant resources within its subject scope. Each Web page will not necessarily be individually described unless it is deemed to be unique. Therefore, with reference to email discussion lists and newsgroups, each posting and each mail will not be individually described.
