Appendix B: Strategies for maximising response rate

One of the most influential factors known to increase Mail survey response rates, is the respondents interest in the topic. The circulation list for each subject sub-groups was drawn, where possible, from membership lists of CoSAAD associations which cover the scope of the project. CoSAAD is represented on the ADAM steering committee and therefore its members are likely to have an interest in the project.

Questions were prepared with the interests of the respondents in mind. The questionnaire length was felt to be of less importance to response rate, than intelligibility and capacity to engage the respondents.

Entry into a prize draw was offered, with the aim of encouraging respondents to return the questionnaire promptly.
