1996 Survey of User Information Needs and Search Methods Results

1 Introduction

The ADAM Project will result in the production of an Information Gateway to quality-assured art, design, architecture and media resources on the Internet. To ensure that the Service best meets the needs of the user community, an extensive on-going consultation process is underway.

The analysis of survey findings, which comprises the first Phase of consultation, will impact directly on the specification and verification of a prototype Service. A second Phase will involve consultation with users of the prototype.

1.2 Survey Objectives and Scope

The aim of the survey was to gather information about the likely user community, their information needs and behaviour, in relation to use of existing resources. It provides a snap-shot of current activities and perceptions.
